As a couple, we all yearn for some romantic time away with our spouse. However, if you have kids or are on a limited income, it can sometimes be a challenge. The great news is that it doesn’t have to be a challenge. There are places in the United States that offer great romance at a reasonable cost.

For those who are looking for a weekend away or to celebrate a special anniversary, here is the top list of U.S. romantic getaways.

New York

We have all seen this in the movies and for those who live on the east coast or have unlimited income, New York is the place to go. Romance will come alive as you live out all those movie scenes. Take a carriage ride in central park. Kiss at the top of the Empire State Building. Go to a play on Broadway or the ballet. The possibilities are endless.

The Poconos, Pennsylvania

Again on the East coast, this mountain area has some great all-inclusive resorts designed to celebrate your love for one another. Take advantage in the winter months and enjoy some skiing or snowmobiling.

Charleston, South Carolina

A little father south, this spot was named by Travel and Leisure as the top romantic spot in the United States. It has awesome water views and cuisine. Plan to go sailing with one another or take the time to watch the sunset.

Texas

Corpus Christi has some great beach getaways that are sure to rekindle the flame of romance. Enjoy a horse ride on the beach or go sailing. Warm weather will bring out the hotness in the marriage.

Austin is also a great place to go to with its distinct music scene and restaurants. Sneak away to one of the bed and breakfast deals north of there in the hill country. Enjoy the quiet and serene atmosphere.

Santa Fe, New Mexico

Santa Fe was also chosen as one of the top five romantic spots in America. With its southwest charm, it is sure to give couples the much needed break from the city life.

California

San Diego and San Francisco were two more on the top five list by Travel and Leisure. San Diego offers romantic beaches with a cool Mediterranean climate. Take a romantic stroll on the boardwalk in San Francisco or visit the Golden Gate bridge at night.

Honolulu

There is a reason why this is the number one honeymoon spot. Just because you have already done the honeymoon thing doesn’t mean you can’t act like honeymooners. Enjoy the awesome climate and gorgeous beaches. Or just stay in their luxurious hotels. Either way, the romance is sure to come alive.

These are just the top romantic places. Feel free to leave ideas for those also searching. If your husband and you always go to this particular spot, leave it in the comments. Enjoy your time together with your spouse-it is so precious.

I've been to honolulu .. omg it's the bestttttttt place on earth.. the hilton village is right on the beach and beautiful.. u can book through expedia. they really good and can book all activities for you. You don't really need to rent a car because every activity has bus or shuttle that picks you up and drops u right in the hotel. Very beautiful and romantic. I wanna go back

All excellent suggestions but historic and beautiful England has to be the most romantic destination. The rolling countryside, the lakes and mountains, the exciting cities and culture. Chester in north west england is a wonderful place for romance. Dave Taylor
