Southwest Airlines Knows How To Put A Spin On Skimpy

Southwest Airlines recently came under fire for their treatment of a skimpily dressed passenger. What better way to handle the flak? Turn it into a money making marketing scheme that grabs national attention.
Twenty-three year old Kyla Ebbert was on a Southwest plane ready to take off from San Diego on July 3 when an airline employee asked her to change her miniskirt, top and sweater or get off. In a compromise, she was allowed to stay on the flight after tugging her skirt down a bit and inching her top up.
It is reported that airline chief Gary Kelly said Southwest doesn't have a dress code and doesn't want its employees put in the role of fashion police. He said he hopes Ebbert will remain a customer.
The funny thing about all of this is that Southwest was the airline in the 1970s that had put its attendants in hot pants and called itself "The love airline." Who would have thought that would have come back to haunt them. . .wink.
I just wonder how this twenty-three year old girl feels. I personally would not have wanted to be the person who was wearing the too revealing clothes for all the world to know about. I have seen no pictures but I am curious to know if this person even had the looks to pull it off.
I am never a proponent for dress codes, but I can see how an inappropriately dressed woman can be a distraction on a flight especially if there were kids on the plane. I will be curious to see how this promotion plays out. Will travelers everywhere take up the skimpy dress in hopes of getting extra perks? Only time will tell.

I couldn't get on the internet without stumbling over the story. She had her day of fame on the Today show with her mother, her attorney, and Matt Lauer. I am sure you can find the video and make your own judgment about her apparel or lack thereof. LOLJames, Thanks for the comment! I just looked up her pic. Evidently she does have the body to pull it off! I can see how it would have been a distraction. It just seems like an oxymoron if you would have saw the ads from the 70's. Thanks for commenting! Have a great week!
