Does Chuck Norris Have What It Takes To Help Win A Presidency?

Being a Mike Huckabee fan, I love all the extra attention and questions that the new advertisement starring Chuck Norris has gotten. Yahoo has reported that searches for Norris and Huckabee have gone up 457 percent in the past few weeks.
Do celebrity endorsements really make a difference? Some are arguing that Norris was the right endorsement for Huckabee. The former Arkansas governor took the lead today as the Republican front-runner.
So does this rise in popularity owed to the ultra-cool fighting machine Chuck Norris? If you have not seen the ads, I encourage you to visit YouTube and type in their names. The ads are nicely done and it is hard not to crack up when watching them. But does having a celebrity endorsement really make a difference to the American voters?
This topic has always been interesting to me because normally I wouldn’t even vote for anyone in Hollywood, but their views always come out in politics. I am of strong belief that actors and actresses honestly have no clue what goes on in the real world. Not that many politicians do either.
It is surprising to me to see how many people do base their views on who celebrities endorse. I grew up in Arkansas. I grew up during Clinton’s reign as governor. I was dragged by my dad from rally to rally. I remember how the highlight to him was the celebrities. His favorite story to this day is how he saw “Batman" (Michael Keaton-for those who don’t remember) at the Clinton Block Party after he won his presidency.
As a child, I could see how easy it was to get caught up in the celebrities. Opposite of my father now, I don’t see how a celebrity endorsement is valuable to my decision. I do admit it is entertaining seeing all the ads and the performance, but when it comes down to my vote-not so much a big deal.
I have a feeling I am in the minority on this. I would love to hear your views as to if celebrity endorsements really do make a difference in which candidate you are voting for this election. Please leave your views in the comments.
I guess time will tell as to the effect of the celebrities. Also in this poll, Hilary Clinton is showing the lowest support ever. This comes shortly after she announces her endorsement by Barbara Streisand. Not sure what that all means.

Top-level comments on this article: (2 total)I agree. Chuck Norris will have zero impact on Mike Huckabee's campaign. Huckabee has been rising in the polls because of his strong ties to the evangelical community and because of his endorsement of the Fair Tax. He will win or lose on his own merits.
I just can't understand why any star would influence anyone in such an important matter? The persons record, his deeds and works and what your beliefs are and how that person best equates to your beliefs should be the deciding factor. As for me Mr. Huckabee, as a minister, does not address stealing, the outright breaking of law and he dismisses it all under the guise of humanity and love of neighbor. I guess that is ok if he considered the impact to all and takes action for the benefit of all and not just those he feels are entitled to aide while ignoring the rest. Well I suppose he would also be the first to say separate the state from religion, so why apply faith thinking in selective instances? He should be doing that for all citizens and I used that word for a reason. Why don't you ask him that question? Secondly he took an oath before God almighty, the God he professes, to preserve, protect and defend the law. Stealing, is an offense against God and society. God did not say you can steal under these conditions. So when we profess who we are and look at people we must first examine our beliefs. Not our feelings and emotions but what is truth, justice and serves all men. It is a shame we don't start with their record and the truth and it a shame we don't address "the rest of the story". No, no star can ever influence a thinking person to vote for someone. they can only present their opinions, as I did for consideration. Your heart and your charater will guide you to who you vote for. Best wishes.
