Want To Buy a New Life?

An Australian man is auctioning off his entire life on ebay this June. Ian Usher decided after a breakup with his wife that his life is no longer appealing to him. Therefore, he is auctioning off everything in his life.
Up for bid is Usher's three bedroom house in the western city of Perth and everything inside it, his car, motorcycle, jet ski and parachuting gear. He is not just auctioning off his belongings, but his lifestyle as well. He is auctioning off a chance to be friends with his friends and a trial run at his job.
"Why give it all up? Well, there are too many reminders here for me," he explains on his site. "Everything here is connected with that past life, and as cannot have that life anymore, then I don't want to hang on to it desperately. It's time to let it all go and move on to the next big adventure that life has to offer. Or maybe, as a couple of friends have suggested, I am just having some sort of mid-life crisis!"
Ian Usher has led an interesting life from running businesses to getting married and moving to Perth. He is excited about this next adventure in his life. Although he stresses that he has a great life and any buyer would be excited to purchase it.
"As I have said before, I lead a great life, and am very grateful for all that I have. I live in a beautiful city in a stunning country. I have the ocean, the city and the bush all within a half hour drive of my home. I have a great house in a lovely location, and I have some pretty exciting hobbies, and some great friends."
His life is so great, according to him, that he currently is writing a book about the events that led him to this point. You can even download the first section from his website.
Honestly, I don't understand this. The guy obviously has friends that love him, employers that care for him not to mention a lifestyle of adventure. I don't fault him for wanting to start over, because I am sure most people would like this opportunity at least once in their life.
But most people come back to reality. I guess it seems selfish to me. Life gets hard so you just sell everything and quit. What about his friends that are suppose to be so great. How do they feel just being sold?
I know he says he is grateful for his life, but then why sell it all? It seems to be a very selfish ambition. Everyone has hard times in his or her life and how he or she deals with it tells a lot about their character. Selling it off and starting over may help him to figure things out, but I can't imagine the hurt he is causing in the process.
Usher expects to get $390,000 at least for his life. It is interesting that the price put on his life is mostly the appraised value of the home. I guess his friends are just a free throw in. I am not sure my life is even worth that much. I just find it interesting that we can put dollar amounts on a person's life.
For those interesting in buying this life, the ebay auction will run from noon on June 22 to June 29. The bidding will start at $1 in Australian currency. I encourage you to check out the website for videos of his lifestyle as well as pictures of the house. I am sure we will see many other lives up for sale as news gets around. Ebay may have to create a new category!

Top-level comments on this article: (2 total)I think it's just a gimmick to advertise selling his house and belongings. Good way to get a lot of free advertising.
this is for sure not a gimmick, we know very well how he is feeling and understand why he did it...i just found this article in search of geting rid of our life, actually a paradise, yes we are living in paradise and even that can get to you with some time, we are a very creative young family, who want to start new. We have a dream prime property in kenya, overlooking the Ocean, we have created a very unique and artistic Beach Lodge, we have a outside catering business and a event location, we are making a good living, and have absolutly nothing to complain about, and as crazy Usher sounded with his act to sell off his entire life, we do feel him and are looking to do the same..great article it gave us a good direction..properysalekenya.blogspot.
