WikiLeaks Takes On Scientologists: What is Scientology Trying To Hide?

I recently became aware of this organization that operates as a real life Woodward and Bernsteins. I have to admit the thought of a group that investigates and exposes corruption worldwide intrigues me. Apparently before ever launching their website, the group has already exposed wrongdoing in human-rights violations in China, claimed to have swayed Kenya's Dec. 2007 elections and exposed the inner workings of the U.S. detention camp at Guantanamo Bay.
Their latest target is very intriguing. The group has decided to take on the Scientologist. Watch out, Tom Cruise-your so-called religion is about to be exposed.
According to FoxNews, in March, Wikileaks published a document detailing behind-the-scene workings of the Church of Scientology - a 612-page manual commonly referred to as the secret "bible" of Scientology, containing writings by L. Ron Hubbard on the eight different Operating Thetan levels, a basic principal of the religion.
The Church of Scientology argues that the material is copyrighted and is requesting WikiLeaks take the information down immediately. Apparently in the past the church has sued Time Magazine for just publishing parts of the book.
WikiLeaks posted this response on their website to the Scientology threats: "After reviewing documentation of Scientology's endless assaults on journalists from Time magazine and CNN, which spent over $3 million defending against just one of their suits, to investigative freelancers who have had publishers pulp their books rather than facing litigation costs, we have come to the conclusion that Scientology is not only an abusive cult, but that it aids and abets a general climate of Western media self-censorship. . . ."
" Wikileaks will not comply with legally abusive requests from Scientology any more than Wikileaks has complied with similar demands from Swiss banks, London Banks, Russian off-shore stem cell centers, former African Kleptocrats, or the Pentagon. Wikileaks will remain a place where people of the world may safely expose injustice and corruption. Indeed, in response to the attempted suppression, Wikileaks will release several thousand pages of additional Scientology materials next week."
I love it! Finally someone to stand up to these crack pots! I love the way it refers to the religion as a cult and has the nerve to expose it for what they believe it is. Scientologists are upset because a lot of these documents are not even allowed to be viewed by certain level members of the religious groups.
I don't understand how people in this religion can justify not being allowed access to what they supposedly believe in. At least Christians lay it all out from the beginning. The Bible can be read by anyone at anytime. What kind of religion censors their own beliefs?
Who are these people willing to take stands against corruption across the world? The site is run by a scattered worldwide community of journalists, activists and Chinese dissidents and funded mainly by people who have made a lot of money in the Internet boom, according to FoxNews.

Top-level comments on this article: (2 total)Hi Abigail, thank you for sharing this information. I hadn't heard of this group before now. May God open the eyes of those so blinded by the enemy. I admire your zeal, but must admit my heart broke to hear you call these people "crack pots", this is exactly why Christians are not respected. It just doesn't reflect what Jesus taught. We should weep as Jesus did and pray that God remove the blinders. Anyway, just my thoughts, I hope you receive them with all gentleness from one sister to another. Again, I admire your zeal and love your articles. You share great information. Keep it up! Blessings to you, Teresa
Hi Abigail, Funny that you mentioned that the church of scientology was a cult. We have been recieving their solicitations for months. Finally I went online and emailed them stating to stop sending their pamphlets and that we had no interest in their cult now or ever. Thanks for the info on Wikileaks. I will be going there next.
