Why I Am Carrie Underwoods New Biggest Fan

It was reported that Carrie Underwood looks down on celebrities for endorsing candidates saying she personally would never try to persuade Americans how to vote.

Just Jared Celebrity gossip site reports that Underwood has no interest in publicly sharing who she is voting for on Election Tuesday.

The site posts: While talking about the presidential race with TV Guide, she said, "There is someone I do support, but I don't support publicly. I lose all respect for celebrities when they back a candidate. It's saying that the American public isn't smart enough to make their own decisions," she explains. "I would never want anybody to vote for anything or anybody just because I told them to. Music is where you go to get away from all the BS. Whether it's from politics or just the world around you, music should be an escape."

I can't agree more with the musician. It has always bugged me to no end to see people with status give endorsements or try to tell me who I should vote for in elections or how I should feel about causes.

A friend told me a few weeks ago that Angelina Jolie said in an interview that her and Brad would need to get married soon because the kids were beginning to ask questions. Pitt's response was that he wasn't going to get married until the gay people were allowed to marry because it wasn't right that they weren't allowed that basic right.

Seriously? We should pass laws so that gays can marry so that Pitt will finally marry Jolie? Who does he think he is? We will just forget about all the sin you had with the affair and so forth and take your moral advice on how to live. After all, you are Brad Pitt.

Celebrity status should not even be considered. What American honestly waits to see who their favorite actor or actress is voting for before they place a vote. The only group I think would be persuaded by those viewpoints is teenagers, but I hope there are some out there with some backbone.

I guess I say all of that to say this: Way to Go Carrie! It is about time someone stood up to those over-inflated egos. Now, I have to go buy your album!

You go girl!! Thanks for sharing this Abigail, it has always bothered me as well. Not that they can't say who they are voting for, but my goodness, get off the soap box.

Way to go Carrie--hopefully she will continue to stand on that.

Abigail, great article. You are so right. But potential leaders use all types of promotion to get votes and sometimes celebrities fall into this trap or have very strong opinions which have to be voiced. Great Election. Best Wishes.
