Recall: Throw Out That Nestle Cookie Dough

We are huge eaters of cookie dough in our family. We are those gross people that everyone talks about that will eat it raw.
We have a tradition in our house to each eat a raw cookie before placing the remainders on the pan. I know a lot of people think it is gross, but for us we love it.
Therefore, it was a little shocking today to see the headline that Nestle has recalled all of its refrigerated Toll House products. Toll House is our favorite. We like it much better then Pilsbury because of all the chocolate chip ooey goodness.
The FDA advised consumers to throw away any prepackaged, refrigerated Nestle Toll House cookie dough products in their homes. Retailers, restauranteurs and employees at other food-service operations should also not sell or serve any of the products.
All of this happened pretty fast as news came in of the sicknesses that customers have been experiencing. Nestle decided to issue the recall in less then 48 hours. The recall he includes refrigerated cookie bar dough, cookie dough tub, cookie dough tubes, limited edition cookie dough items, seasonal cookie dough and Ultimates cookie bar dough. It extends to chocolate chip dough and other varieties, including gingerbread, sugar and peanut butter cookie dough .
Do not assume that cooking the dough solves the problem. It can still get the bacteria on your hands, counters, etc. I guess for now, we have to make from scratch or wait until the new stuff comes out.
I guess maybe we should think twice before eating that dough raw next time.
