TLC Shuts Down Jon And Kate While Adjustments Are Made

Amongst upset fans and viewers over last night's announcement, TLC has pulled the plug on Jon and Kate, at least for the next few months.
Viewers expected Jon and Kate to announce the hiatus of the show during their special announcement, but were disappointed to find out that instead Jon and Kate are separating.
"TLC continues to support the Gosselin family and will work closely with them to determine the best way to continue to tell their story as they navigate through this difficult time," TLC said in a statement.
"Over the course of this weekend, Jon's activities have left me no choice but to file legal procedures in order to protect myself and our children," Kate said in a statement. "While there are reasons why it was appropriate and necessary for me to initiate this proceeding, I do not wish to discuss those reasons at this time, in the hope that all issues will be resolved amicably between Jon and myself. As always, my first priority remains our children."
For many viewers watching the show, frustration levels continue to rise. I have heard people say they just want to shake them and tell them both to grow up. I can understand that completely.
As someone who has been in the situation and did not turn to divorce, watching the show is painful. It brings back so many bad memories, but it also shows the immaturity of myself. It is like seeing what we were actually like for the first time. It is embarrassing.
Just like the above action of filing for divorce and the quote that followed. I am sure they had a fight and Kate thought that she would show him.
Jon's response to the divorce: "This afternoon, Kate filed for divorce. Our kids are still my number one priority. I love them and want to make sure they stay happy, healthy and safe. My job is being the best, most supportive and loving father that I can be to my kids, and not being married to Kate doesn't change that," he said in the statement.
"This will be a difficult transition for all of us, but Kate and I will work out a schedule that enables our kids to have plenty of quality time with both of us at home in Pennsylvania. In terms of my marriage, it's no secret that the past six months or so have been very difficult for Kate and me. We are no different than other couples and parents who are facing a crossroads in their marriage. I am of course deeply saddened that we are divorcing."
The two of them need to be locked down with a marriage counselor for a weekend. Seriously, they honestly want to throw away their marriage?
If I heard one more time during the episode that their kids were the most important thing to them, I was going to barf. The hardest thing I learned during my own marriage troubles is that the kids are not the most important thing and should not be.
I know it is contrary to what society preaches, but your spouse should really be the most important thing and then the kids. If you are ignoring your spouse and only doing things for your kids-your marriage will fail.
It is like in the airplane when the oxygen masks fall, you are told to put it on yourself first not your child. Because you are no good to the child if you are dead.
Same thing with marriage, children do better with both mom and dad. Save the marriage first, then work as a team to parent the kids.
I am disappointed in Kate. She proclaims the Christian lifestyle and the moment something gets hard she runs to divorce.
Granted on the outside, it seems like such an easy solution. Maybe part of that counseling lockdown weekend, they should make them watch the video of how they are acting.
The kids are not going to benefit from them running away from each other. The kids would benefit more from seeing them fight it out and work through it and stay together.
The next new episode is set to air in August after the hiatus. That is my two cents, what is yours?
