Cell Phones Banned In School Zones in Texas

The 81st Texas legislature recently passed a law outlawing texting, emailing and talking on cell phones in school zones.

Our little city followed suit passing this law. I have to admit that I am one of those people. What else am I suppose to do in school traffic to kill time?

I am also one of those people who get mad at others doing the same thing if they are holding up traffic.

The fine for getting caught violating this law is $200 a ticket. Can you imagine?

On the flip side, why not outlaw cell phones entirely in school zones? Have you driven by a high school lately? You would not believe how many kids are crossing the streets talking on cell phones and not paying attention. That is just as dangerous!

I will say I will miss my cell phone. I use the drive to school to catch up on talking with my friends. We also have been known to call dad and share about our day as soon as we pick up. I guess we will have to wait now until we get home.

I agree that something needed to be done to further ensure our kids safety. Watching people text and drive has given me a many of heart attacks.

I will admit, though, that I will miss using mine. I am praying that I am not the first to take home the ticket.

To me that sound a little over the top.
