Elton John Claims Jesus Was "Gay"

Remind me not to ever be near Sir Elton John during a thunder storm. Lightening from the heavens could not be far from him!

The latest controversy John has started comes from comments he made during an interview with US magazine. The singer stated that Jesus was a "super-intelligent gay man."

Sir Elton said in the interview: "On the cross, he forgave the people who crucified him. Jesus wanted us to be loving and forgiving."

I think Jesus being loving and forgiving is not the same as being gay nor condoning homosexuality. Jesus is the Word of God and I think we can see several passages with Jesus speaking that will no doubt prove his non-gayness.

I think there is a fine line that continues to be crossed. The Bible outlaws six things when it comes to sexuality. One of those is homosexuality. The others are adultery, incest, fornication, bestiality and prostitution.

I can give you the Biblical references for all of these. Matthew 19:4-5 clearly states man and woman is the only recognized marriage. I don't think Jesus, being forgiving and loving, would preach against homosexuality and then be one himself, since we know Him to be perfect.

There are several instances after Christ's being crucified that the Bible views homosexuality as a sin. That classification as a sin did not just go away with Jesus' death.

I agree judgement should only be God's especially when it comes to sins of the heart. However, I think Elton John overstepped the line by implying sin when talking about Jesus. Jesus was sinless. An apology should be issued.

I read the passage, and it doesn't really say what you tell us it says. And you never told us where Jesus preaches against homosexuality. Can you elucidate?

(It's Matthew and Mark...not Cathy and Mark.)

Romans 1:25-27 (New International Version)

25They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.

26Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. 27In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion. For starters.

"I think Elton John overstepped the line by implying sin when talking about Jesus. Jesus was sinless. An apology should be issued." Very bold call for apology, Abigail, in these days of doing the chicken dance around morally contentious issues. Elton's opinion that Jesus was homosexual has been around for decades now; it's as old as Jesus sleeping with Mary Magdalene. I'm not couching around for Sir Elton to apologize about his self-serving intentional ignorance about Jesus Christ. It is amazing how activists from all extremes never cease to recruit Jesus for their schemes, teams and agendas. Jesus would probably pray for them still: "Father, forgive them; they know not what they do." ~mogama~

Look NOT to this text to discern sin and how you should live; Jesus taught us that GOD loves each person and that HIS all loving nature is there REGARDLESS of many things including sexual inclination.

Jesus came to free us from the tyranny of the 'rules' of the Old Testament of the ancient Jews, not to later have his Christain"followers" reclaim those blatant injustices.
Elton John might be correct but it matters not.

really? where did you learn that? Jesus Himself said He came to bear witness to the truth (John 18)- that's why He was born- the thing he frees us from is non-truth- all of it- whether the lie is propagated in the context of "sexual inclination" or something else- truth sets us free- Jesus is truth, the life and the way- to the only real freedom.

Don't let the lies of our culture or anything else keep you from truth. Pursue truth and God and you will find Him (Jeremiah 29:13) and through His Word He will expose lies and myths- you have to really desire the truth though to find it-

It is a hard thing for any of us to go the Bible apart from our own prejudices- When we do, it is amazing how humbling truth really is!

Thank you for tackling a very controversial topic - I totally agree with the Bible (and with you!) Romans 1:25-27 (New International Version)

How do you know that in using the word "Gay" He wasn't refering to the old english definition?

"Live by the foma (harmless untruths) that make you brave and kind and healthy and happy."

When it comes down to it, the bible being as unspecific as it is, people can differ their own definitions of any number of passages. After awhile it just becomes a matter of popular vote between opinions.

So what was their "due penalty" for their actions? Hell? What happened to God being all loving, all forgiving? Why not show them the way back to "the light"

Sometimes I wonder wether or not the original text of the bible is the copy we see today
