Apple Removes Overtly Sexual iPhone Apps

There is an uproar among adult iPhone App makers as Apple announced that it was removing apps that contained sexual material sending developer's profits down the drain.

"It came to the point where were were getting customer complaints from women who found the content getting too degrading and objectionable, as well as parents who were upset with what their kids were able to see," Phil Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of product marketing, told the New York Times.

Although this is causing women and parents everywhere to celebrate, many developers are downright angry. Developers aren't just angry with the amount of money they are now losing, but also with Apple's decision to keep some well-known apps such as Playboy.

As a woman, mom and wife, I say, "Way to go Apple!" However, I think they should of just taken all of those apps off. Really, is there a reason that you need those apps on your phone?

I would hope those mixed up in that kind of life could at least do it at their own home!!

It bothers me that the developers are getting such a platform because of this. Do they not remember the DotCom Bomb? Internet and technology development is risk. Nothing is a guarantee. If you depend on that income, you need to have another plan because you never know when it will all go falling away.

That being said, maybe the developers should start trying to put cleaner apps on the phones. Or look into another technology all together.

Kudos to Apple for listening to consumers and not the bottom line.
